After the whirlwind experience of the ImmerQi training centre in Beijing and then the early rise to board our train to Wuxi in Jiangsu province, we were suddenly waking up to our first day in a Chinese school. As teachers in the UK, going to work in a school wasn’t a new experience for us by any means but would it really be the same? How would it all work? What would the students be like? Were we really ready to be TEFL teachers when we’d spent our entire working lives teaching physics? Suddenly the nerves kicked in and that knot in the stomach just wouldn’t shake as we embarked into the unknown.
